Secured by Design (SBD) runs an accreditation scheme on behalf of the UK Police Service, recognizing products or services meeting established security standards under the label "Police Preferred Specification."

SBD introduced a Secure Connected Device accreditation this year for internet-connected product providers. Partnering with certifying bodies including Forti5 Technologies, SBD assesses IoT products against the international standard ETSI EN 303 645. The framework identifies risk levels tied to an IoT device and its surrounding ecosystem.

After Forti5 completes independent certification, the manufacturer can pursue SBD membership. Successfully certified products receive the SBD Secure Connected Device accreditation — a unique and recognisable accreditation highlighting products as having achieved the relevant IoT standards.
